Conference 2 Day Courses $495/person for each course See Registration Page to Enroll You must register for at least one day of the conference to register for a pre-conference training course.
ArcGIS for Natural Resources Applications This two day course focuses on using ArcGIS 9.0 for natural resources applications. An environmental suitability model specific to Wyoming is used as an example throughout the class, focusing on each step of a GIS project from collecting and editing data to analyzing data and creating a final map. Topics Covered:
The class includes hands-on exercises using Wyoming natural resources data. Exercises include: evaluating and downloading data for class project. Using Modelbuilder to create an analysis flowchart for finding suitable locations for a new campground based on variety of environmental factors. Using least-cost path functions to find the most economical path for a new road based on environmental factors. Using Network Analyst to find connected features in a stream network and perform upstream and downstream tracing; creating subtypes and domains for vegetation and wildlife data for more efficient data entry and validation. Prerequisites: Instructor: Creating and Editing Parcels with ArcGIS This course provides an introduction to storing and maintaining
cadastral data in a geodatabase using COGO (Coordinate Geometry)
tools in ArcGIS. Students learn basic concepts of the geodatabase
data model and a process for editing parcels. In course exercises,
they practice displaying, symbolizing, and editing parcel data as
well as entering subdivisions into existing parcels. The course also
teaches how to create and modify tax map annotation. This course is
taught using an ArcInfo license of ArcGIS since many of the editing
tools require an ArcEditor or ArcInfo license. Who Should Attend: Topics Covered:
Prerequisites: Instructor: Robert LeClair Electronic Data Solutions course: ArcPad 7 for Mobile GIS
Who Should Attend Topics Covered
Prerequisites: Instructor: Introduction to ArcGIS Server ***FILLED*** This course is designed for those new to ArcGIS Server who would like to learn about its architecture, capabilities, and client applications. ArcGIS Server provides a complete server-based GIS system that supports the use of centrally managed spatial data for mapping and analysis. This course introduces ArcGIS Server and teaches a workflow for creating and sharing GIS maps, globes, and tools. You learn how to publish maps, globes, and geoprocessing models that are optimized for performance and how to create out-of-the-box Web applications using ArcGIS Server Manager. The course covers using GIS services in both Web applications and ArcGIS Explorer. Installation and some configuration techniques for ArcGIS Server are also covered, but administration is not the focus of this course. Who Should Attend Prerequisites Using ArcMap Functionality for Remote Sensing Image Analysis Many organizations use ESRI's ArcGIS software tools for GIS analysis, but fewer use specialized image processing software for remote sensing image analysis. ArcGIS and ArcMap, however, include raster analysis and modeling tools that can be adapted for many basic and some advanced image processing tasks. This course will cover some of these tools and provide instruction on using them to incorporate remote sensing analysis into your organization's workflow. Participants will learn image pre-processing, enhancement and interpretation techniques in the ArcGIS environment with instruction and hands-on exercises. Prerequisites: Instructor: |
